This year’s 2019 UKFIET conference theme is: “Inclusive Education Systems: futures, fallacies and finances”. With the conference coming up soon, 17-19 September, Professor Kwame Akyeampong, Professor of International Education and Development at the University of Sussex, and Chair of the 2019 UKFIET Conference Committee, provides some thoughts on what he is looking forward to.

Kwame mentions the tough selection process that the Conference Committee faced, due to the record number of submissions this year. However, the team are very happy with the submissions, which cover a wide range of very important issues related to the conference theme.

He is hoping the sessions will provide some real insights into the problems and solutions around inclusive education systems. We know there are high levels of inequality and inefficiency in education systems and this is precisely what this conference is trying to address. Some of the sessions will highlight experience from some of the programmes, as well as ask questions about the financing, amongst other issues.

We hope we have a conference that provides some real insight into how we can improve education systems so that they provide large scale solutions to quality education that is inclusive for all.
