This seminar will explore how teacher agency shapes the implementation of national education reforms in the Global South, drawing on evidence from Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan and Tanzania. It will pay particular attention to how teacher agency is activated in initial teacher education and how it is realised in diverse classroom settings, focusing particularly on how agency supports equity and social justice in and through education.
