Join the Centre for Comparative and International Research in Education (CIRE), University of Bristol, for a seminar by Professor Ricardo Sabates on Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) and the challenges of scaling evidence-based interventions.

Speaker: Professor Ricardo Sabates (University of Cambridge)

TaRL is a proven pedagogical approach that groups children by learning level, rather than grade, and provides targeted instructional support. Evidence from Asia, Africa and Pakistan shows TaRL’s effectiveness in improving foundational learning outcomes, particularly for marginalised groups, through a cost-effective approach.

Improved learning outcomes are also a key factor in encouraging enrolment and retention, helping to address the critical challenge of out-of-school children in Pakistan.

This seminar presents findings from an evaluation of an ongoing TaRL intervention implemented in government schools across two districts in Sindh. The study focuses on the key enablers and challenges involved in scaling the intervention across all government schools in the province.
