A quarter billion of the world’s children and youth are out of school. Nearly half are in crisis-affected countries. Since emergency education focuses on primary education, it is adolescents and older youth who are most likely to be out of school.

A new study from NORCAP, called “Lost Opportunity: Education for out-of-school youth in emergency and protracted crisis settings,” examines this urgent global challenge. The webinar will explore some of the key findings and recommendations, including the need to dramatically upgrade expertise about out-of-school youth, significantly boost educational support for them, and understand the educational priorities as identified by at-risk youth themselves.

Presenters will include Marc Sommers and Mai Nasrallah, the key researchers, as well as youth involved in different aspects of the research.
