17 February, 12:00-13:30 GMT
Organised by: Global Campaign for Education (GCE); Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE); Sudan Education Cluster; Arab Campaign for Education for All; Sudanese Coalition for Education for All.
Sudan is experiencing one of the world’s largest and most under-reported education crises. Since the escalation of conflict in April 2023, the country has witnessed mass displacement, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and the near-total collapse of basic services—including education. Entire communities have been uprooted, with schools damaged, occupied, or converted into shelters, while millions of children have been cut off from learning.
There is an urgent need to spotlight the scale of the violation of the right to education in Sudan. Despite the severity of the crisis, Sudan receives limited global attention and insufficient international advocacy. Educational needs remain immense, while local educators continue to show extraordinary resilience—often teaching in improvised spaces, displacement sites, or under life-threatening circumstances. This webinar aims to break the silence, amplify the voices of Sudanese educators, and bring global attention to the ongoing denial of education for millions of children.
This web event will be conducted in Arabic with English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese interpretation. The recording of this web event and all presentations will be posted on the INEE website. If you have any questions about the web event, contact ayman.qwaider@inee.org.
