UKFIET VISION, MISSION AND VALUES

Vision: A more just world where improvements in education quality, relevance and access are underpinned by a diversity of perspectives, forms of knowledge, and partnerships.

Mission: To create safe and open spaces where education actors from across the world, especially those whose voices are not normally heard, can come together (either in person or virtually) to debate different forms of education knowledge, build networks, and co-create ideas.

Values

UKFIET expects its members to be mindful of, and adhere to, its five core values:

  1. Equity: We value diversity and difference across multiple forms of education knowledge
Which recognise diversity and difference across various education knowledge contexts and societies through participatory engagement, dialogue and action to address theĀ  learning needs of all throughout the life course.

  2. Justice: We actively promote dialogue and action which addresses power imbalances, social injustices and different needs
Where a deeper understanding of the historical and structural inequities impacting global education is promoted.

  3. Inclusion: We champion a range of voices and the elimination of prejudice, bigotry and hate speech in all its forms
Where diversity can thrive, where all can actively participate, and where multiple voices can be heard which promote the elimination of harmful stereotypes and societal norms in global education discourse, policy and practice.

  4. Collaboration: We create opportunities for diverse groups to work together, share ideas, and challenge structures of power in global education
Where a range of people can come together to share experiences and ideas on how to ultimately change the structures of power in global education and drive positive change in learning experiences for all.

  5. Reflection: We are open to challenging our assumptions and creating new ideas by engaging with different forms of knowledge
Where there can be open and respectful deliberation on diverse forms of knowledge that challenges our assumptions and facilitates learning, new ideas and innovation.
