Deadline to apply 30 October 2020

Are you passionate about representing your fellow students? Do you feel you have a contribution to make to international and comparative education? Then, we would like to hear from you!

We are looking for a new BAICE Student Representative who will join the BAICE Executive Committee in December 2020 until December 2022, to work alongside our current Student Representative, Dorothy Ferary. The commitment involves attending three Executive Committee Meetings each year and the BAICE/ UKFIET conference; the organisation of the BAICE Student event; fielding inquiries from BAICE student members and representing their needs to the Executive; and aiding in the organisation of additional student-led initiatives as appropriate. While this is a voluntary role, it is an exciting and interesting challenge, and a great networking opportunity for anyone involved in international and/or comparative education.

Please be aware that in addition to two Student Representatives, BAICE also has a larger Student Committee to aid in the organisation of student-led activities. If you are not elected as a Student Rep on this particular occasion, you could still consider being a part of this Committee.

Applicants should be PhD students and based in the UK. They should send a 2-page CV outlining their research interests together with a 2-page covering letter, explaining what they think the BAICE Executive Committee could do for students and how their experience is relevant to this role. We especially welcome applications that include your ideas about how BAICE could more actively engage student members in other levels of study besides the doctoral level. Please also state whether you wish to be considered for the Student Committee if your application for Student Rep is unsuccessful. To be eligible, you must either be a current member of BAICE or be willing to join the Association should you be elected. As the post is for two years, students should have at least two more years of PhD study remaining, or be certain that they will be in the UK after submitting their thesis.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Friday 30th October 2020. Please email your application to the BAICE Secretary at secretary@baice.ac.uk. For more information about the role, please contact Dorothy Ferary or Bukola Oyinloye at students@baice.ac.uk.
