SUMMARY:Using Learning Trajectories to Measure Foundational Learning
DESCRIPTION:6 December 2022\, 14:00-15:30 GMT\nREGISTER HERE\nThe Global Ed
ucation Monitoring Report (GEM Report) and the Research on Improving Syste
ms of Education (RISE) Programme will host a joint webinar to introduce th
e new learning trajectories tool on GEM Report’s SCOPE website. The sess
ion will demonstrate how the tool shaped analysis in the GEM Report’s la
test Spotlight on Africa publication (#BorntoLearn) and informed a campaig
n RISE is leading from October-December 2022 focused on improving educatio
n systems in the face of a global learning crisis (#FromSchoolingToLearnin
 g).\nChair: Patrick Montjouridès\, UNESCO GEM-Report\nSpeakers:\n\n	Camil
a Lima De Moraes\, UNESCO GEM-R\n	Jason Silberstein\, Blavatnik School of
 Government\, University of Oxford\n	Clio Dintilhac\, Bill &amp\; Melinda G
ates Foundation\n	Adedeji Adeniran\, Centre for the Study of the Economies
  of Africa\n	Nicolás Buchbinder\, People’s Action for Learning Network\
n\nAbout the Event:\nLearning trajectories show how many years or grades i
t takes for children to acquire foundational skills. Because these traject
ories track the pace of learning in the system\, they can help us understa
nd how many children struggle to acquire these skills\, when and how to in
tervene\, and how different policies might impact the urgent challenge of
low learning.\nThe new learning trajectories tool gives users an overview
of learning trajectories\, examples of policy simulations for access\, lea
rning and equality\, and allows users to create their own learning traject
ories and run policy simulations. This panel will feature an overview of t
he learning trajectories\, followed by a discussion on the use cases and r
eflections from various actors (research think tanks\, civil society organ
isations\, and funders)\, and finally a brief question and answer period.\
