 tion Research (GLACIER) presents:\nThe Ghana Education Evidence and Data L
 ab (GEEDLab) was set up in the Ghana Ministry of Education to work with a 
 coalition of local research organisations and researchers to generate the 
 best evidence to fill gaps in how to improve education performance in Ghan
 a. In this presentation I will discuss my role in setting up the GEEDLab\,
  what it aimed to achieve\, the role global actors played in promoting its
  vision of education evidence for national policy\, and how the national c
 ontext shaped its design and outcome.\nBiography:\nKwame Akyeampong is Pro
 fessor of International Education and Development at the Open University\,
  UK. He has had an academic career spanning over 30 years\, starting at th
 e University of Cape Coast\, Ghana in 1991. He has held international acad
 emic posts at Hiroshima University in Japan and Georgia State University i
 n the US as a senior Fulbright scholar. He was professor of international 
 education and development at the University of Sussex in the UK for about 
 17 years before joining the Open University\, UK in 2020. He also served a
 s a Senior Policy Analyst at UNESCO\, Paris  and co-chairs the Global Edu
 cation Evidence Advisory Panel (GEEAP). Kwame has published widely on topi
 cs ranging from teacher education in sub-Saharan Africa\, teaching and lea
 rning in African education environments and accelerated learning programme
 s in Africa.
