 ly.\nAt this event\, Dr Maya Wind will launch her new book: Towers of Ivor
 y and Steel: How Israeli Universities Deny Palestinian Freedom\, published
  by Verso in 2024.\nIsraeli universities have long enjoyed a reputation as
  liberal bastions of freedom and democracy. Drawing on extensive research 
 and making Hebrew sources accessible to the international community\, Maya
  Wind shatters this myth and documents how Israeli universities are direct
 ly complicit in the violation of Palestinian rights.\nAs this book shows\,
  Israeli universities serve as pillars of Israel's system of oppression ag
 ainst Palestinians. Academic disciplines\, degree programs\, campus infras
 tructure\, and research laboratories all service Israeli occupation and ap
 artheid\, while universities violate the rights of Palestinians to educati
 on\, stifle critical scholarship\, and violently repress student dissent. 
 Towers of Ivory and Steel is a powerful exposure of Israeli academia’s o
 ngoing and active complicity in Israel’s settler-colonial project.\nMaya
  Wind is a Killam Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at
  the University of British Columbia. Her research on the reproduction and 
 international export of Israeli security expertise has been supported by t
 he National Science Foundation\, the Social Science Research Council\, and
  the Killam Laureates Trust.\nThis book launch is co-hosted by the Researc
 h for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre at the University of Cam
 bridge\, the Centre for Lebanese Studies\, Cambridge University College Un
 ion (UCU) and Cambridge University Palestine Solidarity Society.\nThis eve
 nt is part of a tour of the UK and Ireland organised by the British Commit
 tee for the Universities of Palestine (BRICUP).\n&nbsp\;
