 Dr Paula Leal\, Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana\nThis seminar discu
 sses conceptualisations and practices of resilient higher education\, focu
 sing on the Latin American and Chilean contexts. In the context of environ
 mental and political crisis and in the face of socioeconomic and technolog
 ical inequalities in the region\, the seminar emphasises the need for high
 er education that equips students to adapt\, resist and view adversity as 
 an opportunity. By embracing Paulo Freire's critical consciousness\, empow
 erment\, and hope principles\, the discussion explores how higher educatio
 n could create learning and coexistence environments that foster resilient
  educational communities empowered to transform society. The seminar also 
 presents recommendations for how higher education can enhance the developm
 ent of resilience.\nThis will be an in-person event with the option to joi

 ation\, University of Cambridge\, CB2 8PQ.\nAbout the speaker:\nDr Paula L
 eal Tejeda is a Chilean social worker and Doctor of Philosophy in Educatio
 n (University of Sussex)\, currently an academic\, researcher and Head of 
 the School of Social Work at the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana\, 
 Chile. Dr Leal has conducted research on citizenship\, citizen education a
 nd higher education\, focusing on interpreting the voices of students and 
 other actors within educational institutions. Committed to contributing to
  the development of higher education that addresses both contemporary and 
 future challenges\, Dr Leal is currently exploring resilient citizenship a
 nd resilient higher education. Through her research\, she aims to revise a
 nd strengthen educational practices at universities to build resilient edu
 cational communities and empower citizens.\nThis seminar is organised by t
 he Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre at the Faculty
  of Education\, University of Cambridge\, in collaboration with the Cambri
 dge Latin American Research in Education Collective (CLAREC).\n&nbsp\;
