 rom the British Council-funded English Language Teaching Research Award pr
 oject: Reparative learning in English secondary classrooms in Nepal and Ug
 anda.\nThe team will present their working definition of reparative learni
 ng - an approach which considers how curricula\, pedagogies and the classr
 oom environment can support young people to contribute to repairing past a
 nd ongoing injustices to enable 'better futures'. They will consider why t
 hey think this is particularly important for English curricula\, particula
 rly in multilingual contexts such as Nepal and Uganda where English is a '
 double-edged sword' that can empower young people but can also contribute 
 to inequalities and epistemic injustices. They will share some initial fin
 dings from interviews with secondary school teachers\, collaborative works
 hops with teachers and teacher trainers and textbook/curriculum analysis.
