SUMMARY:Protection of the Right to Education in East DRC
DESCRIPTION:25 March 2024\, 2:00pm - 3:30pm UTC\n&nbsp\;\nREGISTER HERE\nAf
ter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing informa
tion about joining the webinar. Click here to convert to your timezone.\n
N.B. This web event will be conducted in French with a simultaneous interp
retation in English.\nWebinar organised by the Inter-Agency Network for Ed
ucation in Emergencies (INEE).\nThe increasing deterioration of security i
n the DRC means that 2.8 million people are now in acute need\, 2 out of 3
children are left unprotected and uneducated\, and they are exposed to mu
ltiple life-threatening risks (physical violence\, recruitment by armed fo
 rces\, abduction\, forced labour\, forced marriage\, early pregnancy and G
VB). Only 30% of educational needs are met\, and there is an 84% shortfall
in funding. When schools are not being used by armed forces or attacked\,
they serve as temporary shelters for displaced people\, putting further p
ressure on access capacity.\nThis participatory webinar aims to :\n\n	Rais
e awareness of the situation in Eastern DRC\; how it affects education and
\, in particular\, the realisation of the right to education. \n	Support
INEE members and the strengthening of the ESU community\, by listening to
and connecting with key players in education (e.g. Education Cluster\, GCP
EA\, Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action\, INEE\, etc.).\
n\nIn this webinar\, we will hear from speakers on the current situation i
n Eastern DRC\, its impact on education and protection\, the Safe School D
eclaration\, the right to education and opportunities for pedagogical cont
inuity\, and a needs analysis. We will listen to testimonies and discuss n
eeds and possible solutions to support education in Eastern DRC. This part
icipatory webinar aims to give visibility to the current crisis and give y
ou a voice as INEE members.\nIf you have any questions about this event\,
 please write to francais@inee.org.\n&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;
