DESCRIPTION:9 March 13:00-15:30 GMT\n&nbsp\;\nThe Bill &amp\; Melinda Gates
  Foundation\, with support from Better Purpose\, will be hosting two\, con
 nected learning sessions on teacher professional development to support qu
 ality teaching.\nREGISER HERE for the second session focused on in-service
  teacher development.\nEven before COVID-19\, the world was facing a learn
 ing crisis\, with nearly 6 of every 10 children in low- and middle-income 
 countries suffering from learning poverty. Pandemic-driven school closures
  have deepened the crisis\, sharply increasing learning poverty to an esti
 mated 70 percent (The State of Global Learning Poverty: 2022 Update). The 
 quality of instruction a learner receives is a large determinant of their 
 learning outcomes\, but low teacher capacity is a significant barrier to i
 mproving acquisition of FLN.\nIn this learning session\, we will:\n\n	Revi
 ew the characteristics of effective teacher professional development.\n	Ex
 plore what quality\, practical\, skills-based teacher professional develop
 ment looks like in practice through exploration of case studies.\n	Identif
