SUMMARY:Pathways to inclusive and equitable quality education for people wi
 th disabilities: Cross context conversations and mutual learning
DESCRIPTION:International symposium 12-13 February 2020\nWhile the promise 
 of education for all has been enshrined in international commitments\, wha
 t remains unclear is how best this vision can be achieved in practice. Ack
 nowledging the broader understanding of inclusive education for all\, in t
 his symposium we choose to forefront children with disabilities\, a group 
 that continues to face various forms of exclusion within education.\n\nThi
 s symposium aims to provide a space to forefront contextual complexities a
 nd dilemmas\, but move the debates forward to critically examine where cur
 rent hurdles exist\, and how to better address the significant inequalitie
 s that exist in providing “inclusive and equitable quality education” 
 (Sustainable Development Goal 4) for children and young people with disabi
 lities across the globe. This cross-national dialogue\, we hope\, will ena
 ble sharing of practices and encourage learning from each other\, given th
 at there exist unique strengths in different systems.\n\nThe invited speak
 ers have been selected to provide access to critical debates\, discussion 
 and approaches to education of children with disabilities from a wide inte
 rnational perspective. The event will have an interactive format with ampl
 e opportunities for presentations\, dialogue\, knowledge sharing and refle
 ctions.\n\nThe following themes will be covered:\n\n 	Pedagogies in practi
 ce: teaching-learning processes and experiences in the classroom\n 	Learne
 r experiences: experiences of children and young people with disabilities 
 in a range of educational settings\n 	Educational spaces: where learning h
 appens and fluidity of boundaries between these spaces\n 	Disability inter
 sectionality: how disability intersects with other important markers of ex
 clusion such as gender\, location\, ethnicity\, migration etc.\, and the v
 arying impact on the educational pathways and experiences of these childre
 n.\n\nThe first day will end with a social event at the Department of Educ
 ation and Special Education\, including an opportunity for various partici
 pants (such as students\, early career researchers and others) attending t
 he symposium to present their research as part of a thematic poster sessio

 n\nThe conference is hosted by the Platform for Research in Inclusive Educ
 ation and School Development (PRIS) and Cambridge Network for Disability a
 nd Education Research (CaNDER) with support from the Swedish Research Coun
 cil.
