 oration

(FOBZU) to build higher education partnerships between Britain &amp\; Pal
 estine\nTuesday 25 February 14:00-15:30 GMT\nREGISTER HERE\nThis is a HYBR
ID EVENT: Join the event in person (Senate House) or by Zoom.\nNew guide n
ow available online! Partnerships with Palestine Guide: An introductory gu
ide to UK-Palestinian higher education collaboration. \nThis event is run
in collaboration with Friends of Birzeit University (FOBZU)\, the Centre f
or Comparative and International Research in Education and the Research fo
r Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre.\nAfter over a year of Israe
l’s military campaign\, Gaza’s Universities have continued to operate
even as their campuses and infrastructure have been destroyed. To coordina
te much needed support for their continued functioning\, Gaza’s public u
niversities have come together to form an Emergency Committee of Universit
ies. UK universities\, with their robust academic networks and resources\,
are well positioned to provide meaningful support through collaborative i
nitiatives. These partnerships not only offer tangible benefits to Palesti
nian institutions at a time of critical need and reflect a long-establishe
d practice of international collaboration but also enrich the UK academic
community by sharing our research and fostering cross cultural exchange. M
any such partnerships already exist\, and have successfully fostered colla
borations between Palestinian and British institutions. They also offer us
eful models for future initiatives that support Gaza’s universities as t
hey seek to re-establish themselves\, sustain their teaching\, and continu
e in their role as public institutions of significance.\nThis event launch
es a guide led by Friends of Birzeit University (FOBZU)\, a UK-based chari
ty that builds partnerships between British and Palestinian institutions o
f higher education. The guide lays out the context for international colla
boration with Palestinian institutions and the wider context of internatio
nal twinning as a means to build academic partnerships. It also provides e
xamples of previous collaborations between British and Palestinian institu
tions and offers models to build future collaborations.\nThe event will in
clude representatives of the Emergency Committee of the Universities of Ga
za and UK-based faculty who have existing partnerships and research collab
orations with Palestinian Universities. The event will be chaired by Omar
Shweiki\, FOBZU's director\, and the guide will be presented by Dr Basma H
 ajir.\n&nbsp\;
