 2:30PM - 1:30PM\, GMT.\n\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\nWhy attend?\nThere is global cons
ensus on the urgent need for addressing gender inequalities to support dev
elopment. This is underscored by the incorporation of Goal 5 – gender eq
uality – in the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Despite com
prising 50% of the population in most countries in the world (UN\, 2024)\,
women and girls encounter persistent constraints hindering their ability
to thrive on an equal footing with men.\nFor young people navigating impor
tant life stages – such as moving from education into employment\, build
ing careers\, and starting families – this is a critical time. The traje
ctory of their lives can be influenced significantly by gender-based expec
tations and societal pressures. Gendered norms and expectations not only s
hape ambitions but also impose limits on the choices made by young people.
\nWhilst this affects all young people\, the outcomes are often more restr
ictive for young women - underscoring the importance of listening to young
women's experiences and taking urgent action to accelerate global progres
s in this area.\nAbout Next Generation \n\n	research series conducted in
over 25 countries to date\n	engaging with over 50\,000 young people aged 1
6 - 35 since 2009\n\nNext Generation aims to understand youth attitudes an
d aspirations\, amplify the voices of young people and support better poli
cy making and programming. Next Generation focuses on topics such as educa
tion and skills\, youth voice and civic engagement\, identity and values\,
climate change\, conflict\, and many others. Each project includes a nati
onally representative survey and employs a range of participatory and crea
tive qualitative methods and capacity building opportunities.\nIn 2024\, T
he British Council will be publishing Next Generation Bangladesh\, Iraq\,
Kazakhstan\, Sudan\, UK and a thematic policy brief series\, What We Know:
Women and Girls.\nHow do I register? \nRegister here\nFor more informatio
