SUMMARY:Launch Event: Education in Times of Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:6 October 2022\, 15:00-16:30 BST\nNORRAG is organising a launch
event for the seventh edition of NORRAG Special Issue (NSI) entitled “E
ducation in Times of Climate Change”.\nClimate change is not a new issue
for education\, but new levels of consensus and concern are emerging\, su
ggesting that new policy developments may follow. This NORRAG Special Issu
e (NSI 07) addresses the question of how education is to equip learners to
participate in climate action that would fundamentally disrupt existing p
roblematic systems. This NSI has the potential to inform pedagogical praxi
 s\, co-learning\, curriculum\, climate action\, policy formulation\, frame
works for evaluating success\, resourcing decisions and what we might cons
ider educative acts for engaging with climate change and its multi dimensi
onal uncertainties\, risks and opportunities.\nAbout the event\nThe two gu
est editors\, Distinguished Professor Heila Lotz-Sisitka and Professor Eur
eta Rosenberg from the Environmental Learning Research Centre\, Rhodes Uni
versity (South Africa)\, will introduce and then moderate a panel includin
g seven authors of articles in NSI 07. This launch highlights some of the
global and national perspectives in NSI 07\, and gives participants the op
portunity to pose questions to these experts.\nThe launch event\, which ta
kes place online\, is oriented towards researchers\, policymakers\, practi
tioners and advocates who are interested and engaged in education broadly\
, and education and climate change specifically.\nREGISTER HERE\nAgenda\nW

ducation\, but new levels of consensus and concern are emerging\, suggesti
ng that new policy developments may follow\, with hopefully a stronger con
nection to the educational opportunities\, challenges and inequalities aro
und the world and in particular in the Global South. Just how this is to b
e done in education at all levels\, is not always clear. Educators in dive
rse fields need to do and share a deeper analysis of climate change educat
ion needs around the world quite urgently in order to inform policy formul
ation\, the evaluation frameworks for success\, and resourcing decisions.\
nNSI 07 English edition consists of 28 articles written by 75 authors fro
m 22 countries in all continents\, which aim to highlight global and nati

ll as internationally renowned practitioners and academics who have devote
d their careers to sustainability and educational change. The Special Issue
