SUMMARY:Language and its critical role in education and training around the
  world
DESCRIPTION:Friends House\, Euston\, London 10.30-16.30\, March 19th\nThis 
 day is organised by academics and practitioners who are often frustrated b
 y the limited attention paid to the language in which children learn and a
 re assessed\, educators teach and resources are written. We have invited c
 ontributors and participants from a range of UKFIET member organisations. 
 We still have a limited number of spaces available for BAICE members and m
 embers of the wider UKFIET constituency.\nThe event is an in-person only e
 vent\, but we will have some online engagement before and after the event.
  There will be a small fee to cover lunch and refreshments.\nFollowing a s
 hort opening session\, we will work in groups of up to 10 participants to 
 explore how language issues interact with one of four core areas of UKFIET
  members’ work and research: \n(1) assessment and evaluation\, \n(2) the
  socio-emotional aspects of learning and teaching\, \n(3) education in cri
 sis contexts and \n(4) foundational learning and transitions between stage
 s of education. \nWe intend for the day to mainly focus on discussion abou
 t key challenges and affordances related to language and the identificatio
 n of potential ways forward.\nExpressions of interest to attend are now cl
