SUMMARY:Engaging with research – the magic bullet?
DESCRIPTION:24 April 13:00-14:00 BST\nONLINE ONLY\nREGISER HERE\nThis event
  is part of the School of Education's Bristol Conversations in Education r
 esearch seminar series. These seminars are free and open to the public.\nS
 peaker: Helen Aberdeen (School of Education\, University of Bristol)\nThe
 biggest barriers for teachers to engaging in research are the perception o
 f relevance\, lack of accessibility\, and more importantly\, time. Since i
 ntroduction of the initial teacher training Core Content Framework (CCF) e
 ducators need to have an awareness of the research underpinning it.\nIn th
 is talk\, Helen Aberdeen\, the Director of the School’s Education and Po
 licy Research Service (EPRS)\, will discuss how the service can build a br
 idge between theory and practice\, not only for the CCF but in the wider e
 ducation landscape. In this presentation\, Helen will explain how the serv
 ice\, and particularly the new toolkits within it can help educators in a
 time-saving and effective way. She will also describe a recent pilot proje
 ct with Professional Tutors from PGCE partnership schools which was based
 on one of these toolkits.\n&nbsp\;
