 tract\nIn this talk\, Dr Will Smith begins by discussing the diverse ways 
 in which education has positively impacted the world\, for example\, in ac
 cess\, nutrition\, peacebuilding\, and mobility. He examines how education
  has affected our social and economic development\, both nationally and in
 ternationally\, drawing upon research from within Moray House to exemplify
  this.\nProfessor Sarah McGeown follows with a discussion of the value and
  importance of research-practice partnerships (RPPs) to bring about positi
 ve real-world change. She discusses the benefits and methodological consid
 erations associated with RPPs and the key enablers required to create and 
 sustain environments which better connects research and practice.\nBiograp
 hies\nDr Will Smith is Director of Internationalisation and Senior Lecture
 r in Education and International Development. He currently leads the schoo
 l’s research group and masters programme in Comparative Education and In
 ternational Development (CEID)\, and researches on disrupted education and
  barriers to access for the most marginalised children and youth.\nProfess
 or Sarah McGeown is Professor of Literacy\, and was joint winner of the Un
 iversity of Edinburgh Impact Prize for Sustained Partnership in 2024 based
  on her work within the Literacy Lab. She routinely works within research-
 practice partnerships\, and is an enthusiastic advocate for this approach.
