  Saeed hosts a conversation with Professors Arathi Sriprakash and Keri Fac
 er.\n\nEducation is sometimes framed as the only way to overcome past inju
 stices and their legacies in the present. Yet the personal experiences of 
 millions of learners around the world and of the work social theorists acr
 oss many traditions show how schooling is often a site of violence and a p
 rocess that maintains existing inequalities and creates new ones.\nThis pa
 nel grapples with this paradox by exploring the purposes and possibilities
  of education\, inside and outside of schools\, to help create just future
 s. With a focus on decolonial theory and practice\, creativity and co-prod
 uction\, memory and reparative practice\, and ecological and climate justi
 ce\, panellist share their experience\, research and questions around educ
 ation.\nYou are invited to join us to launch the Education\, Justice and M
 emory (EdJAM) network with a series of events in the first week of March 2
 021.\nEdJAM is a collaborative international network of researchers\, educ
 ators and civil society organisations working in the arts\, education and 
 heritage. We are committed to creative ways to teach and learn about the v
 iolent past in order to build more just futures. EdJAM is a UKRI GCRF fund
 ed Network Plus.\nSharing perspectives from the EdJAM team\, Advisory Boar
 d and esteemed guests\, these events explore the key concepts on which EdJ
 AM is based\, the connections between them and the possibilities for teach
 ing and learning about violence and injustice that they open. These events
  are also an opportunity to find out more about research funding opportuni
 ties available through EdJAM.\n&nbsp\;\nJUSTICE: Wednesday 3 March 12.00 
 – 13.30 GMT\n\n	Abiti Nelson hosts a conversation with Professors Ciraj 
 Rassool and Pablo de Greiff.\n\nJustice has many definitions: something wh
 ich is meted out in courtrooms\, a sense of fairness for all\, a process o
 f repairing past injustice\, a radical reshaping of social relationships a
 nd imagining new ways of living for people and planet. These definitions c
 onnect and call on education and memory making about the past in different
  ways as this panel will explore.\nWith a focus on transitional justice\; 
 human rights\; accounting for past injustices\, including of colonialism\,
  slavery\, and violent conflict\; heritage and memory making processes\, o
 ur panellists share their experiences\, research and questions around just
 ice.\n&nbsp\;\nMEMORY: Thursday 4 March 15.00 – 16.30 GMT  (Registratio

 añol)\n• Professor Matthew Brown hosts a conversation with Professors E
 lizabeth Jelin and Maria Emma Wills Obregón and Dr. Goya Wilson. This eve
 nt will be held in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation to English\nMe
 mories about violence and injustice are multiple\, struggled over and ofte
 n very different from official narratives of the past that circulate in hi
 story books and classrooms. Memory can also be productive and pedagogical\
 , offering potential to intervene in educational spaces and to challenge o
 r shape transitional justice processes.\nWith a focus on social movements\
 , gender\, memory production by those affected by violent conflict\, the r
 elationship between history and memory\, transitional justice and the peda
 gogical possibilities of memory\, the panellists share their experiences\,
  research and questions about memory.\n&nbsp\;\nEdJAM Funding opportunitie

 vent at 1500 GMT will be held with simultaneous interpretation from Englis
 h to Spanish and vice versa.\nEdJAM will commission research into creative
  practices for teaching and learning about the violent past. We will fund 
 projects led by researchers\, civil society organisations\, artists and ac
 tivists\, with a focus on research led by colleagues based in the global s
 outh\, early career researchers and/or researchers from groups that are tr
 aditionally under-represented in academia. In this session\, we will share
  information about the process of applying for funding\, the areas of focu
