SUMMARY:Decolonizing Language in International Schools through the DIME Fra
 mework
DESCRIPTION:Monday 19 February\, 1.15-2.15pm GMT\nSpeaker: Dr Esther Bettne
 y Heidt\, University of Wisconsin-Madison\nRegister here\nIn many internat
ional school contexts\, there is a growing awareness of Diversity\, Equity
\, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ). However\, corresponding conversations and
initiatives often lack a theoretically based\, critical understanding of
the central role of language in DEIJ. To address the omission of language\
, linguistic identities and languaging practices\, Dr. Esther Bettney Heid
t will propose the Decolonizing International Multilingual Education (DIME
) framework. Informed by decolonial theory and recent research conducted w
ith international school communities\, the DIME framework is a tool to sup
port schools as they consider how to approach language from a critical len
s and to centre language within their larger commitment to DEIJ.\nThis is
a hybrid seminar. It will take place in person in room 1W 3.103. Tea and c
offee will be provided.\nFor those attending online\, you will receive the
zoom link once you have signed up through Eventbrite.
