 funding from the Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA programme\, researchers from Ba
 hir Dar University in Ethiopia and the REAL Centre explored the extent to 
 which secondary school science curricula and teacher classroom practices p
 romote context-based learning. The research specifically examines how scie
 nce textbook activities and teachers’ instructional approaches draw on c
 ontexts relevant to students’ lives and experiences\, and how these prac
 tices support the development of students’ inquiry skills.\nIn this semi
 nar\, Dr Dawit Asrat Getahun\, Associate Professor of Educational Psycholo
 gy at Bahir Dar University\, will present preliminary findings from this c
 ollaborative research with Dr Dawit Tibebu Tiruneh of the REAL Centre.
