 d policy on climate change\, but it is not clear what role higher educatio
 n is playing in responding to the crisis\, nor how to engage it in capacit
 y building of local communities. This presentation explores what has been 
 done to date\, the gaps in the provision of the higher education instituti
 ons\, and possible interventions to improve what is currently offered. It 
 is argued that relevant and well targeted interventions will improve the c
 ommunities’ capacity to reduce the risks posed by climate change and bui
 ld a more resilient and safe nation for future generations. There is also 
 discussion of the broader implications for sustainability across small isl

 Climate is a three-year Global Challenges Research Fund project. Bringing
