 e Commonwealth are delighted that Prof. Daniella Tilbury will deliver its 
 Annual Gladwyn Lecture 2025.\nProf Daniella Tilbury is an academic leader 
 and policy expert credited with having developed the initial frameworks fo
 r sustainability in higher education.\nDaniella is currently the UK govern
 ment’s focal point on the UN Economic Commission for Europe and an advis
 er to the European Commission on education for sustainability. She was rec
 ognised with an Hon. Fellowship by the University of Cambridge\, St Cathar
 ine’s College and a Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Girona for
  her scientific and social contributions to sustainability in education.\n
 Facing the Future: Education for Climate and Sustainable Development acros
 s the Commonwealth\nThe growing awakening to global concerns about climate
  futures and sustainable development provides the foundation for this lect
 ure\, which critically examines the interplay between environmental and ed
 ucation concerns.\nDrawing on research evidence\, the lecture maps the edu
 cation sector's trajectory\, examining the evolution of expectations\, app
 roaches\, and its effectiveness in enacting change for sustainable develop
 ment over time and across the Commonwealth.\nIt will delve into the transf
 ormative potential of AI and emerging technologies in reshaping learning a
 nd equipping learners with the skills needed to contribute to a world that
  is more sustainable than climate scientists predict. The potential of the
 se new technologies to exacerbate inequalities\, promote dis-information a
 nd erode critical thinking is also discussed.\nThe lecture concludes by ou
 tlining pathways to enhance education’s ability to promote sustainable d
 evelopment and climate action across the Commonwealth\, with a focus on ad
 vancing intergenerational justice to ensure a fair and equitable future fo
 r all\nThe Annual Gladwyn Lecture is organised by the Council for Educatio
 n in the Commonwealth in honour of its former Patron\, Lord Gladwyn\, a di
 stinguished diplomat and parliamentarian.\nThe Lecture focuses on an educa
 tional topic of relevance to the Commonwealth and is delivered by an emine
