The Education and Development Forum (UKFIET) is looking to appoint an Engagement Fellow to support its efforts to communicate with the wider international education and training community with a view to improving the organisation’s engagement and impact.

The work will be focused around two aspects of UKFIET’s work:

First, the Fellow will support the UKFIET Executive in developing its programme of events between September 2016 and December 2017 and in maximising the capture and dissemination of knowledge from these events through the use of tools such as webinars, blogs, video, etc. The Fellow wilUKFIET Engagement FellowFINALl also manage the maintenance of an appropriate level of UKFIET social media presence in between events, coordinating its twitter, Facebook and blogging activities.

Second, the Fellow will play a key role related to the biennial UKFIET conference (September 2017). This will include liaising with the Conference Committee to publicise the conference through social media but, more importantly, managing communications through such media of wider messages regarding the discussions and findings of the conference. An important aspect will be developing dialogue and materials that anticipate and subsequently reflect on major conference themes in the period between June and October 2017, including pre-conference interviews/blogs/videos/podcasts with keynote speakers and identified participants to build interest in the conference. During the conference, the Fellow will be expected to be active on social media disseminating speakers’ comments, audience questions, etc. as appropriate.  Subsidised attendance at UKFIET 2017 will be provided.

The Fellowship will be part-time (c20% FTE) from 1 September 2016 to 31 December 2017 and the Fellow will receive a stipend of £10 000 paid monthly pro rata. The Fellow will report to the UKFIET Executive Committee and is expected to attend Executive Committee and Conference Committee meetings as appropriate throughout the period. Media / social media training will be provided if necessary.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • are active in the international education and training community;
  • have experience in bridging between academic, policy and practice communities; and
  • well understand various social media and can demonstrate skills in writing for these media.

You should be UK-based and ideally affiliated with a home institution or organisation.

Links to examples of your own work in using blogs, videos, etc. to communicate research, policy and/or practice developments would also be strongly encouraged.
